Manchester City Midfielder Rodri Returns After 8 Months Out

Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri has returned to the field after being out for eight months.
He had suffered an ACL (knee ligament) injury, which kept him away from football for a long time. But on Tuesday, he made his comeback in a match against Bournemouth.
After undergoing surgery in September, it was expected that Rodri would miss the rest of the season. However, he came off the bench during City’s 3–1 win over Bournemouth and played his first game since the injury.
With his return, there is now a strong chance that he could play in the Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States next month. Rodri last played on September 22 in a 2–2 draw against Arsenal, where he got injured.
Recovery from an ACL injury usually takes six months to a year. Rodri also had damage to his meniscus, but he had already returned to training a few weeks ago.
During his absence, Manchester City struggled. They lost their chance to win the Premier League title before the New Year and were recently beaten by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final. This means the club will finish the season without a trophy for the first time since 2017.
Now, City has one last chance to win a title this season — the Club World Cup. Before his injury, Rodri had played only three matches this season. Despite that, he was named the world’s best male footballer in October when he won the Ballon d'Or. At the award ceremony, he had to use crutches due to his injury.
